Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head...

... Or at least they would be if I bothered to go outside and work-out. You see, it's been raining for the past couple of days, and of course it's always when I think "Hey, I should go outside and go for a jog." How convenient.

Well this is a short post. It's starting to get sunny outside - should I go jogging? I think I'm just going to eat a pizza instead.

Plan of Inaction

Today was a great day back from the holiday weekend (does it still count as a holiday if you work and/or sleep for most of it?)! I got up at 9 am, went for a jog, did some core exercises ... and by 9 a.m. I mean 10:45-11:30 a.m. (can't really remember what time I acutally got out of bed), did 15 minutes of yoga (and by 15 minutes I yoga I really mean 2-5 minutes of me attempting to remember the easiest poses such as sleeping worm ... that's a pose, right?), made coffee, and ate what turned out to be two servings of pop tarts.*

My holiday weekend really wasn't full of me stuffing my face with carbs and fat and empty calories. Primarily because I didn't have any food in my house besides frozen chicken and soy milk. I did go grocery shopping. I had to because I was out of gin. So my weekend consisted of gin, working, and watching Arrested Development. If laughing counts as exercise (which it does), well then I laughed the equivalent of a marathon with Arrested Development. That probably explains why I got ten hours of sleep last night. Not sure why my legs ache though...

A wise but drunk friend once said to me "I stay in shape from running ... and sex." With that, I replied "Yeah ... running probably works better with my schedule." I have confidence that someday I will find my tennis shoes (I think they are in my closet, but one can't be too sure) and set a work-out routine. But for now, laughing marathons are gonna have to suffice.

*1 pop tart = 1 serving.
1 package of pop tarts = two servings
Pop Tart packages = FAIL

And So We Meet Again

Wow. Two years? Where did the time go? And more importantly, what am I going to eat for lunch?

I've been trying to eat better in the last two years. I've discovered that veggie burgers are not gross, but AWESOME, yogurt makes me want to vomit (I think it's the texture), and that drinking carbonated beverages while also drinking booze can really prevent hangovers (or combine the two, you know, like gin and tonic, rum and coke...).

As for exercising, cue the cricket noises now. Actually, my exercise is mainly my jobs. Yeah, that's right, I've got one college degree and two part-time jobs ... in retail. The plus is I think the reason I haven't gained a lot of weight is because of my work. The downfall is I hate it and can't seem to get out of retail hell, which I think causes a lil' bit of stress eating and drinking.

So that's the past two years in a nutshell. As for lunch, I'm thinking subway. The $5 footlong sub is really the best thing to happen to sandwiches in a long time.

Labor Days (of eating bad) Weekend.

This past weekend I went to the sprawling metropolis of Hastings, Nebraska.  On the way there I probably ate half a bag of Salsa Sun Chips.  When I got to my aunt and uncle's house, I made drinks for everyone (but mine probably had the most "juice" in it), had a beer, and then proceeded to pass out.  Here's my little menu on what I ate/drank:
Saturday: B-fast -- two pancakes with lots of syrup (no butter)
Lunch -- half-pound cheeseburger, curly fries, nachos
Dinner -- guacamole, cheese and crackers with pepperoni and salami, beer
Sunday:  B-fast -- two eggs, two pieces of toast (with butter)
Lunch -- Jimmy Johns #1 sub (ham, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and mayo on white bread)
Dinner -- Chinese food (Princess shrimp and chicken with fried rice)
Movie snack -- guacamole
Monday:  B-fast -- pop-tart (brown sugar), burrito
Lunch -- cheeseburger, chips
Dinner -- leftover Chinese

And that's the story of how I gained probably a total of what Jennifer Love Hewitt lost over Labor Day Weekend.

8 Minute Abs, 24 hours of pain

Did most of 8 Minute Abs yesterday. My abs aren't too bad. My neck is really tight. So I'm thinking I'll take a break from the whole early 90s video.

Got to talking with Charlene about exercising and its dangers. Mainly about the whole people dying while running/jogging/etc. We decided it is safer to watch TV than work out.

No pressure for me to get fit and fabulous...I've got like six months until I'm forced to go to a wedding of a family member.

The "Water" Diet

I've been trying to drink more water because apparently 9 times out of 10 when you body says "I'm hungry" what it's really saying is "I'm thirsty." Talk about confusing. So when you drink a lot of water that means you have to pee a lot, which means lots of running to the bathroom. I figure I'm getting a daily workout running back and forth to the bathroom.

I saw this article in a magazine that said something like drinking a cocktail per day can cut back on the chances that you'll get heart disease. Then again this article was next to a freaky ad about this fat loss vitamin with an abnormally proportioned lady.

Exercising...my mind.

Right now this is the second time I will have tried posting this. Also in the now, I just ate an entire steak. No sides of baked potato or salad...just beef.

I have been exercising my mind lately in the form of reading. I've read three books this summer -- two of those I read just this last weekend. I like to think that I'm burning calories. I'm a fast reader, so I probably burn more calories, what with the faster page turning in all. I can already tell a difference in my hand muscles, specifically in the pointer fingers.

Another note is that I've been making an effort to eat better (ignore the steak comment made above.). The other night I went out to eat Mexican and I had a vegetable quesidilla. And two margaritas. And most of Cathy's queso dip. But I did have a vegetable quesidilla.
